鉄って大抵のことは受け止めてくれる、とても懐の深い素材なんです。ミスしてもすぐに直せるし、それがかえって良い味わいになることもしばしば。なので僕にとって、鉄は頑丈な記録媒体のような存在です。その時々の背景や感情、モノや地域の歴史、関わった人の思いなど、いろんな情報を金槌で打ち込みながら制作しています。
スクラップを集め、真っ赤に熱し、金槌でひたすら打つ。
…ちょっと奇怪なこの手作業を、日記を残すような感覚で20代の頃から続けてきました。
熱々の体温を宿した鉄たちは活発そのもの。柔軟に奔放に、各々がなりたいカタチに変わっていきます。リフレッシュされた素材たちに直接触れ、くつろぎながらお楽しみ下さいませ。

Steel is a very forgiving material that can take most things in its stride. Even if you make a mistake, you can fix it right away, and it often turns out to be a good thing. So for me, steel is like a sturdy recording medium. I create my works while hammering in a variety of information, including the background and feelings of the moment, the history of the object or region, and the thoughts of the people involved.
Scraps are collected, heated to bright red, and hammered away.
…I have continued this somewhat bizarre manual process since I was in my 20s, as if I were keeping a diary.
The iron that holds the body heat is very active itself. Flexibly and uninhibitedly, each piece is transformed into the form it wants to take. Please enjoy directly touching the refreshed materials while relaxing.
