Reaf Floor Numbers

Reaf Floor Numbers
JP Suitengu-mae Building / Chuo Ward, Tokyo
I sought to infuse a sense of lightness and playfulness into an office building with a solid, linear appearance. First, we heated thin sheets of iron and hammered them into organic, leaf-like shapes. Then, fashioned these into numbers to serve as floor indicator signs. The dish-like forms catch the light from the ceiling and natural light streaming through the windows, creating striking contrasts of light and shadow unique to iron, while serving as effective eye-catchers within the elevator lobby.
