Play Tree
GLOBAL KIDS

Play Tree
GLOBAL KIDS IIDABASHI / Chiyoda,Tokyo
Iron bars, climbing bars and objects with a tree motif were installed in the indoor garden of a nursery school in the city centre, where an artificial turf field is spread out. We devised a form that allows children to invent their own play, so that they can play freely and without getting bored, even in an indoor location. The only functions (=playing styles) we set up for the playground equipment were extremely simple ones, such as iron bars and climbing bars. The branches spreading upwards allow the children to play freely, for example by riding on them, hanging from them, or hooking something on them. In order to make it as smooth as possible to cross the trees, bolts and the like used in general playground equipment are not used, but are welded on site to create a form with no joints or protrusions.
